Following the release of new album ‘Ivy Tripp’ to a hailstorm of critical acclaim in April, Waxahatchee arrive in the UK for a full headline tour this week. Kicking things off at the London’s Electric Ballroom on the 10th of June (with support from label mates Girlpool, whose revered debut album ‘Before The World Was Big’ came out this week), their packed UK schedule is sandwiched between festival appearances all over Europe, including Sweden’s Way Out West, and the UK’s very own Green Man Festival.
To celebrate their return to European shores we’re bringing you four mesmerising live clips from lead vocalist Katie Crutchfield’s compelling solo performance (featuring her twin sister Allison) at St Pancras Old Church in February, including recent single ‘Under A Rock’ and ‘Blue Pt II’ from Cerulean Salt.
Album highlight and the subtly sophisticated single ‘La Loose’ is also out this week, and marks a departure for Waxahatchee sonically, with its poppy synth hook and cheerful Casio drum machine beat. Proving Katie has an ear for a good melody, the track’s sweet new wave feel is at odds with the melancholy lyrics, exposing a relationship’s irreversible demise. Listen here!
